•  Facilitation Training. Professional trainer of Group Facilitation and Planning Methods (certified by the Institute of Cultural Affairs).

•  Leading Organizational Change. Co-trainer of change management course that focuses on the human transition factors implicit in organizational change.

•  Opening Speaker/Facilitator. 1998 annual conference of the International Association of Facilitators.

•  Foreign Visitor Briefings. Responsible for making presentations to foreign visitor delegations to the Judicial Council of California regarding topics such as court system and Judicial Council organization structure and process; community-focused strategic planning; and court and community collaboration.

RESEACH, ANALYSIS, DOCUMENTATION , AND PROJECT DESIGN

•  Day Fines Project. Project leader for an experimental effort to investigate sentencing alternatives to criminal incarceration in Ventura County, California.

•  Grant Proposals. Author of successful grant requests, requests for proposals, and official correspondence on behalf of the Judicial Council and the Administrative Office of the Courts.

•  Statistical Reporting. Developer of training materials and conductor of statewide statistical reporting workshops for trial court personnel in California.

•  Data Dictionary. Drafter and primary editor of the Judicial Council of California Statewide Statistical Reporting Data Dictionary, a voluminous work encompassing detailed definitions of the case types and case processing events that must be reported to state agencies by the California trial courts.

•  Litigation Practice Manual. Author of a comprehensive internal procedures manual (including operation of the firm's case management software) for a complex civil litigation firm.

LEGAL PRACTICE EXPERIENCE

•  State Courts. Managing Associate for complex civil litigation firm in California. General civil and criminal defense practice in South Dakota.

•  Federal Courts. Assistant United States Attorney for four years, representing the federal government in the United States District Court, District of South Dakota, Western Division with heavy criminal case load, wide range of civil litigation cases, and appellate briefing and argument before the United States Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit.
